Description Feed The Beast – Issue #6 (English) Issue 6 is seeing the moonlight for the first time. A little explanation about this issue. In this issue you will find something new for Feed the Beast and it will probably remain unique in this way – just like an introduction in general. Naive as I was, my original plan was to fill just one double-page in the current issue with various statements about streaming in general and Spotify in particular. Is streaming an option to support bands, if so, what will be left at the end of the year? Each message always started with the same standardised question: Shalom, for the next issue of “Feed the Beast”, I would like to dedicate one (or two) pages to our “favourite” streaming provider Spotify and the new technology. I’m planning an overview of various bands from around the globe and what they earned in 2024, thanks to Spotify. I believe that bare figures are always a little more helpful than just saying “We don’t earn anything!”. What are your experiences with it? Some bands gave short answers, some got very detailed, quite a few bands didn’t respond at all, which is perfectly fine – and their records haven’t gone up in fire & smoke (yet). As is my wont, the slightly longer answers evolved into slightly longer conversations, giving a slightly different perspective. Don’t expect a universally valid, conclusive statement from me á la „Cancel your streaming subscription and only buy LPs!“. Everyone has different reasons why or why not to use Spotify and the like. I’m not trying to be a finger-wagging critic, although it might sound like that sometimes. I’m only ask questions … Enough words! Conversations with these bands were conducted over a total of 56 pages.
